There was food in the bag after lunch that I wanted kept cold (sunny summer day yesterday, so the car got hot while parked at work), so I left the bag in the break room fridge.

In order to be forced to remember it, I put my keys in the lunch bag, in the break room fridge.

Where I messed up is that this was my first visit to this site & I didn’t know that the staff leaves by 4pm. When we returned the company vehicle at 6:45pm, the building was locked.

The senior person in our group was supposed to have a working key card for the doors, but it doesn’t work at this location, for any door (despite the next levels up being told about the problem repeatedly).

We walked around the building and found one door that wasn’t completely pulled to, and that’s all that saved me! Not good for their security though.

.

TL,DR: First time at this location of the company, I didn’t know it was locked up after 4pm, deliberately left my car keys in lunch bag in fridge in break room, returned at 6:45pm to find building locked & we had no working key.
