My boss asked me to lead this big presentation because our usual guy was out sick. I didn’t want to admit I had no idea what I was doing, so I just nodded and said, “Sure thing!” Fast forward to today, and I’m standing in front of the entire team, sweating bullets and stumbling over every word.

Halfway through, I accidentally clicked out of the slideshow and couldn’t figure out how to get back. Everyone was staring at me, waiting. It felt like an eternity. One guy even tried to help, but I was so flustered I just made it worse. Ended up losing half my slides and had to wing the rest of it.

By the end, my boss looked like he wanted to crawl under the table. Pretty sure I saw a few pitying glances from my coworkers too. I’m honestly dreading going back to the office tomorrow. Anyone else had a moment where they bit off more than they could chew? How’d you bounce back?

TL;DR: Don’t work on a job that you don’t know.
