My friend committed suicide a few months ago. The police went through her phone as evidence (which I guess is normal), and looked through our text messages and found evidence of drug use. Somehow that fact was passed along to BYU’s honor code office. I’m not like super mad or anything but was just wondering about the legality of the situation. Is there some odd legal loophole that allows this or did they just break the law?
