An r/madmen user reported that Netflix made an episode of Mad Men unavailable because it has a depiction of blackface.

For those who aren’t aware, Mad Men is set in the 1960s in the USA, and said depiction of blackface is meant to be seen in a negative light, criticised by other characters. Worst even, said episode is very important in the narrative, for it establishes important main characters for plots that follow it.

Yet, instead of censoring one scene (which would have already been bad on its own), they decided to remove the whole episode altogether.

At this point I’m starting to wonder if even the purchase of DVDs/Blurays in the future will be affected by this kind of blind censorship.
