The supposed fix seems to be a mixed bag. First things first some stats of my city:

  • Current pop: 220-258k (up 38k since 1.1.8f1 playthrough)
  • Homelessness pop: ~80k (via Cim Census)

The housing demand shot up and tanked immediately after the new update as the game recalculated stuff in the background. Did some re-zoning buildings and adding/removing certain services (like healthcare and taxis) to match the new economy.

At first it seemed homelessness just kept on creeping up as i reached 90k. So i went back into “homelessness management” using the BetterBulldozer to clear up cims and tents around the city. Also checked if my public transport is up to no good again and a homeless generator. Btw i do have “free” public transport out of the city via train stations. Back to the 80k homeless…

After the remedy the homelessness pop stagnated and showed a very slow decline. Since the homeless pop is now declining ive started to install temporary parks so that the invisible ones (bulldozed) can reappear and then leave the city (That is what I think is happening based on the slow decline).

In any case, rooting out months of homelessness will take a while in the latest patch. The new stats:

  • Progress pop: 258k
  • Homelessness pop: 32.2k and going down.

A few more hours to go hopefully.
