Just a little rant incoming (edit: i’m not seriously upset but finding this trend amusing)…

I’m a beginner. I just finished my 2nd meet and got a C&J and total PB. I don’t lift a lot, i usually open. Finished last of course but i understand i’m competing against my previous self so this is great!

Trying to explain this to friends and family sucks haha. I’m here feeling good about myself, coaches are happy, and then friends go ‘did you win? Oh you came in last? I’m sorry thats ok, its so good youre trying!’

Like yes… thank you. Hard to explain local weightlifting meets (where i’m from at least, dont know if its true everywhere) are not really leveled or broken into divisions like other sports so me, a brand new lifter, is obviously not going to outlift someone who’s been lifting on a national level for many years. They cant seem to comprehend that i literally know ahead of time (i know bomb outs happen but you know) that my total will put me in last, even if i go 6/6 lol.
