Hello everyone,
I’m looking to build a new system with around 32 cores and 64 threads because I need a lot of processing power and memory for my virtualization needs. I’m using Windows 11 and plan to keep upgrading my system over time. Since I’m new to this, please bear with me.
I plan to run a large number of virtual machines, each running only one software application on every Hyper-V VM. In my current setup, I have an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 64GB of memory. Each VM is allocated 3 CPU cores and 5GB of memory, and the usage is about 10% CPU and 50% memory per VM.
Given my requirements and desire to upgrade my system over time, should I go with a Threadripper or an AMD EPYC processor for Hyper-V virtualization on Windows 11? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Note: I am aiming to get 196GB of memory and continue upgrading from there.
