There’s a metric ton of head strap questions and recommendations all over. After having tried 8 or so different options myself, I figured I may as well throw my 2 cents in and maybe help some people get the amount of hours into their device as I have.

I’ve tried the tycotech forehead pad and 2 others like it. They don’t solve the issue of weight pulling down my face and require uncomfortable pressure from the back strap to stay on.

On the other hand, I’ve avoided all straps that don’t grip at the base of the headset arms. Anything attaching at the speakers or farther back simply doesn’t support the device and acts as a fulcrum to direct the headset weight directly into my cheeks.

Only 2 options take care of those problems, the BoboVR M3 strap modified to clamp onto the AVP arms, and the Globular Cluster halo strap. I think both have their advantages over each other, but they ultimately both solve the weight distribution issues I have with the headset. They also both allow me to use the headset for 5+ hour sessions with no facial fatigue whatsoever.

My most common usage is while doing chores like vacuuming or the dishes, where I leave the light seal off to have maximum peripheral vision and can still watch streams and do everything my phone can do without taking up a hand.

I have a post on how to make the BoboVR to work, and that’s the most comfortable mod for watching movies. I use the Globular Cluster one for all other activities since it distributes the weight best and doesn’t move around if I sweat at all from activity.

These two straps have allowed me to get the maximum amount of use of my AVP and justify the price of this amazing hardware. I strongly recommend these to anyone who wants to do the same.
