Isn’t Falkor an '80’s Luck Dragon?

Yes, but its also the name of a program made by user u/prostarzz. Falkor is an open-source program where you’ll browse, download and install games from whatever source you want: from a legitimate storefront, or (more likely in this sub!) from your fav repacker or site. For Windows or Linux (yep, Steam Deck)

Literally Steam…but for pirates and regulars alike :)

One reminder. I’m not the dev. I used to run the r/SteamDeckPirates sub, and the developer asked me if I’d look it all over and share it if I’m interested. Clearly I am!

I’ll try share some images and videos amongst the info I’ve grabbed, so forgive me if this ends up looking a lil messy!

And to begin with, you can find the website here:

(as you can see here, legitimate purchased sources, OR piracy ones)

The fact remains from the first time this was shared, Falkor is not inherently a piracy program. By default it will be a games launcher. It will be legit. You can use it to browse, favorite upcoming games, view trailers, descriptions, images and look through games you want to play. Basically…it’s Steam-like in the game info dept.

The difference is that with a 3rd party plugin, you can do the same but with, say, FitGirl as your source. Or Dodi, Steamrip, elamigos…or whoever/wherever you want, with a built-in torrent client (as it stands, webtorrent is the most likely candidate). And yes, Real-Debrid (in the future) support will be there also. And, in the future you can disable the in-built torrent and open the magnet in your own favored torrent client on your computers.

Recent changes to Falkor:

  • Library Screens: (lists + continue playing) - lists will create lists, add games to the lists and keep track of games you’re interested in or playing, in any way you want. continue playing will be…quite obviously add a game and keep track or what you’re playing!

  • Settings Screens: (change different user settings) - change the local of the app

  • Switching from Tauri to electron - for a few reasons (better performance on Linux and the dev is more comfortable in the js ecosystem to the rust one)

(settings! yay!)

The aim is to have Falkor as changeable by the user as possible. If you’re a developer and want to build a 3rd part plugin to use with it, it will be made incredibly easy for you to do.

It’s still very much in development right now. So some things will change, be added, pivot or be refined. There’s still no working version for the public to download and install, but that’s not as far away as you’d be worried it will be. The dev is also very interested in testers for when the time comes!

The dev is u/prostarzz, and I’m sure he’ll be lurking the comments here to reply to anyone who is interested in what’s happening.
