I am tired of feeling unsafe and stressed on the footpath as a pedestrian, and a fair amount of people who use e scooters on the footpath are not helping. They are very quiet and fast and zoom past often with little warning and space given.

For example tonight I was walking with my small elderly dog close beside me, it’s dark and I am very cautious on the footpath trying to be aware of my surroundings and looking around and behind me constantly. For a couple of seconds I wasn’t paying attention to the right space and a scooter sped past us within half a meter or closer after I yanked my dog out of the way. This gave me a huge fright and I feel bad for pulling my dog, she’s small and old and doesn’t need that kind of stress, but it’s a lot better than her being hit by some idiot on a heavy scooter going very fast which could probably easily kill her.

So please use an e scooter and the footpath respectfully, give people time and space to notice you. I understand it’s fun to go fast on them but that shouldn’t be at the risk of pedestrians. I feel sick to think what could have happened if my dog wandered just a little further away or something like that and what should have been a nice walk has left me pretty shaken up.
