I checked kycnot.me for services that could swap Monero to Bitcoin and I used wizardswap. I swapped some moneros for bitcoin and sent the bitcoins directly to Binance.
Shortly after, I receive this email from Binance:
Request for Information - Additional Details Required for Transactions Potential Violation of Terms of Use
Dear Binancian,
This message is to inform you that your recent deposit/withdrawal transaction has been identified as potentially violating our Terms of Use.
Type | Coin | Amount
Deposit | BTC | 0.01253849
Please kindly note that any future transactions that are confirmed to be in violation of our Terms of Use may result in your account being restricted, suspended, or terminated.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please acknowledge and provide the information regarding your transaction(s) below within 30 days in order for us to process your application promptly. If we do not receive the requested information within 30 days, your Binance account may be restricted.
I do not know what are the checks in place from Binance’s side but my guess is that even if 0.01$ is tainted, the whole transaction would be flagged. I do not expect them to release the money anytime soon, will update as the case is still ongoing and pending for reply from their side.
The lesson and main question that I extract from this is:
Is there any swap service that’s 100% guaranteed to not give you tainted BTC?
Feels like these services could potentially taint all XMR swaps and render the BTC received worthless.
