Hi Kiwis!

Me (Korean) and my japanese wife are moving to Dunedin next year to live around 2 years.

By judging from google maps and YouTube, Dunedin looks like a very beautiful place to live. Landscape and beach look stunning out there and I am already have good feeling about living there.

However, my wife herself is coming from one of the busiest city in japan. I think Dunedin is not in between. She was asking if there is any place to have fun like USJ…

Luckily I have flexible work hours that we can go anywhere during the weekends.

Now I wonder

How is the people in Dunedin? Are they friendly? Welcoming newcomers? (And as it is her first time moving out from Japan she is worrying about bit of racism.)

But also I am little worried about making new friends with our weak english (i think im ok but she is beginner lv) and good local foods (+japanese, korean cuisine).

She was saying she wants female friends and people with ‘kind grandma’ aura person after watching harry-potter recently ( maybe she means friendly neighbors xD)

We are half excited and half worried about this new adventure in our lifetime.

Please let me know any tips, good restaurants, place to make friends or meetings or if you want to be our friendly friend that would be great too!

P.s Sorry if there is any grammar mistakes, English is my second language.

Update: Thanks everyone for sharing tips and warm welcomings! I found Dunedin is also famous of good red wines and wiskys those we definitely will try. Plus there is a city called Christchurch an hour away by plane seems another great city to visit too. And I was bit surprised at snowing in the winter season! Anyways much appreciated again :))
