Every time I see someone recommend a streaming site like braflix (outside of the piracy bubble) the first response is almost always this: “Are there gonna be single ladies in my area?” or “No thanks, don’t want a million viruses”
It seems like most people have slept on how good streaming sites have gotten in the last ten years. I haven’t seen any porn ads, malware, scam or any other scary stuff on any of the recommended streaming sites in years, even if I turn of my adblocker. I’d even go so far as to claim that those site lack nothing of the user experience that Netflix and co have to offer.
But still, those sites have the same reputation of being the shady back alley of the internet, where the next virus or scam is just around the corner, just as they were before the streaming age.
What I can’t decide is, if this is actually a bad thing. On the one hand it pains me to know how many of my friends and family live in complete ignorance of how good these free sites have become. On the other hand, if everybody would start using them, they would disappear a lot quicker. So maybe it’s not a bad thing they have such a bad reputation.
