The War Zone’s latest report sheds light on the mystery drone incursions over Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, raising serious questions about security at sensitive U.S. military installations. In response to these incidents, NORAD and U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) are exploring new strategies to detect and combat drone threats, including a counter-drone experiment dubbed Falcon Peak 2025.
With over 600 drone incursions reported since 2022, the military is now facing increasing pressure to address vulnerabilities. NORTHCOM Commander Gen. Gregory M. Guillot shared insights during a recent interview, emphasizing the need for a “layered” defense, including directed energy weapons and improved tracking of small drones—technologies that could reshape national air defense systems.
Despite public speculation about foreign involvement, Guillot stated there is no confirmed adversary nexus behind these incursions. However, the evolving threat landscape demands vigilance, particularly given the rapid proliferation of weaponized drones in conflicts worldwide. The full article delves deeper into these developments and discusses how NORAD aims to enhance detection systems in response to future threats.

My comment: Still nothing on why they can’t get a handle on this? It doesn’t make sense some of these longer term incursions that we weren’t able to disrupt the connection or shoot them down. I am obviously less than confidently inspired by their assurances that AARO is involved.
