I’m going to preface this by saying I’m far from a top level player and I’m mostly into open world. This is just my opinion based on that alone.
I’ve been a thief main for the 2 years I’ve played (launch year and this most recent). It really felt bad at launch, but it’s seen some solid improvements in the decade I was away. So why does it still feel off? I want to love the thief, but it just feels so… lackluster. Survivability is crap, P/P Deadeye is strong but boring, Rifle feels slow with kneeling, DD is fun, but so squishy if you miss even one dodge. And specter; I’ll return to that later.
Soooooo…
I recently gave the necro a shot, specifically, S/S & GS Reaper… Ho-ly f***. I cannot go back. Not only do I feel like a god compared to my thief, the playstyle is also infinitely more fun; melee AND ranged all in one set, chilled to the bone just wrecks when activated, and shroud… well, I get why people say “it go brrrrrr” now. Specter feels like the bud light build version of this, but now I’ve had the barrel-aged stout.
This is TOTALLY subjective and I I’m not trying to piss off the other thief mains (all 3 of them 😏) and I will continue to play my thief as an alt for sure, but I’m curious, has anyone else had a similar experience?
