It was about 10 years ago. I was 19 or so at the time. I was driving while drinking some delicious boba. A boba pearl got stuck at the bottom of the straw, the pointy end that stabs through the seal. I proceed to flip the straw over and start sucking to get the pearl out. Car in front of me randomly brakes, causing me to also hit the brakes…. Straw goes down my throat and when I take it out there is a chunk of flesh attached to it.

Went to urgent care and got it looked at. They said it would likely heal with no issues and gave me antibiotics to be safe. Everything ended up being fine. Healed after a while but it hurt like hell to swallow for a couple weeks.

TLDR; Don’t drink pointy from straws and drive, kids. Even though I still admittedly drink from a straw while driving… just not the pointy end of a boba straw.
