Does anyone have any suggestions on places to go or things to do that a non-Geordie might have missed?

Myself and my partner have been living in the city for 3 years now. We’ve been to and done all the obvious things round the North East (Angel, Beamish, up the coast etc etc etc) but we find ourselves very bored at the weekends now. Any suggestions?
