I’ve been playing MMOs for almost 20 years. I was an avid WoW player for most of that time, after being sucked in to the Warcraft universe by the previous RTS games. I never cared for the books there, though. I watched the lore and those characters fall in disgrace until I finally quit.

I started playing GW2 as my main game a few years ago. 3? 4? Something like that. I LOVED my first play through of the main story (despite the disappointment with Zhaithan’s fight - and the not so great replayability of it). I really enjoyed playing through the Mordremoth story, particularly LWS2 (deapite the weird pacing of the story in HoT). I spent a lot of time on this part of the game before getting PoF and I was stunned again by the story in LWS4.

IBS was a great start and a horrible ending. I didn’t notice, however, how I had liked Almorra’s part in everything.

Fast forward to today and I’m reading Ghosts of Ascalon. The words in the title of this post are the last ones I read at this point. I couldn’t help it but notice my emotions raising up to my throat and my eyes. I should give more credit to ANet for the story they tell. It is not always great writing in the “how” they weave it into the gameplay. But it still is MILES away from other games around.

I do like Tyria a lot. ❤️
