I think they do have their own distinct “personalities” but that they are difficult to discern from what’s happening currently until they are further away in time. A good way to really see these things is to watch television that was made at the time as it’s typically depicted by what was culturally relevant at the time. I think one of the best time capsules I’ve seen is The Sopranos as it shows a very realistic depiction of the 00s. For someone who was a teenager at that time, it really did put me right back then and I was even remembering things I hadn’t thought about in years. I’m certain there are other things that will depict the 2010s in a similar light, but maybe not enough time has passed yet to really see the things that made it unique.
