I am ashamed how many hours I have played Destiny to ask this question! But can you create your own orbs in a game?

I always thought you could, but recently I’ve played as a Titan with unbreakable, sentinel shield, etc and at the end of a strike it says I created over 100 orbs. I definitely can’t see nor can I use 100 orbs.

What’s happening?

EDIT: Just to be clear, what I mean is can I use the orbs I’m creating. Unbreakable Titan means I’m generating about 1 orb every second when using my grenade as the shield and when I’m under fire (at least, that’s what the game is telling me). But I can’t see any of these orbs. Maybe I am auto collecting them?
