No need to Goo-gone or those costly products.
In a pinch, or turn it to habit. To remove adhesive, start by applying a small amount of mineral oil or petroleum jelly (this also works with some cooking oils) to the sticky area and letting it sit for a few minutes. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to remove. Next, use a cloth or your fingers to gently rub off the residue. Follow up with a mixture of Dawn soap and hot water to break down any remaining oil and wash away any leftover adhesive, leaving the surface clean and residue-free. This also works for permanent markers on some non porous surfaces.
