Wokeism basically had its Picket’s Charge on Tuesday, and frustrated liberals are beginning to say out loud the things they’ve been thinking for years. Here’s mine. We, as a country, owe Karens an apology. Were a lot of them super annoying? Sure, but a huge number of Karen stories were born out of women standing up to rude and/or anti-social public behavior, which then escalated into a shouting match when the person they confronted became outraged at being called out for their bad behavior. Guys, we all know how bad it’s gotten: cutting in line, people blaring their phone speakers on public transport, low level theft, etc. We could learn a thing or two from the Karens. After Tuesday, I think we’re finally returning (slowly) to a world where we can politely ask someone to stop shouting into their Apple Watch on the train without fear they’ll whip out their phone, hit record, and say “Did you just call me a (insert slur here)?” This is definitely the stupidest post I’ve ever made, but, I don’t know, maybe if we get through the next 4 years, Trump’s reelection might help us transform the DNC into the party we actually want, and honestly (crazy take incoming) I’d love for us to be a party with a place for Karens, one that rightly ostracizes and punishes people who engage in bad behavior, even if they’re occasionally pretty annoying about it.
