Some of you will find this redundant, for some it’s uninteresting. For me it was an eye opening experience.

I’m based in Germany and recently went to China for 2 weeks. Before going I thought “well, here goes nothing, 2 weeks without knowing what is going on back home”

Summary of what works and what not

  1. Home assistant Green with NABU Casa remote connectivity option. Flawlessly, everything works
  2. TP-Link. All worked perfect, even their cameras
  3. Eufy cameras
  4. Switchbot thermometers
  5. Variety of zigbee devices and sensors through HA

What did not work? Anything Google related, since they left the Chinese market. No luck with the nest doorbell or calendar or Gmail or gmaps, HOWEVER, I was able to access my calendar and the doorbell through their home assistant integrations.

So HA is able to package all the Google traffic and send it over there. Video was perfect too.

If anyone is thinking about going to China and worry about your house, make sure all tlyoir integrations are working before you leave and it you are using the NABU casa option for connectivity, everything will work, even Google products
