The die size of AMD’s upcoming RDNA 4 RX 9070 series has leaked ranging at 390mm2 and according to videocardz the size of this Navi 48 die could be bigger than Nvidia’s normal 80 series die such as the 4080 - 5080 AD103 - GB203, at around 377mm2 now with the recent leak regarding to its performance where it’s matching 7900 XT performance.
But because it may only end up competing against RTX 5070 or a bit lower than that even depending on how well the 5070 performs in the real world, but the RTX 5070 is using a GB205 die that is much smaller compared to RX 9070’s Navi 48.
Now we kind of can see why AMD Radeon is so hesitant on revealing this GPU on their CES 2025 live conference. They were caught off guard with how unexpectedly cheaper the 5070 is and now their choice is to either sell the RX 9070 series for a loss at $400 like Intel Arc does with their Battlemage series of GPUs or sell them at higher than 5070 price around $750+ same as 5070 Ti which will likely be much faster than 9070 XT.
