So I’ve always been a console player. This is my first PC. But I’ve been gaming for 35 or so years. Research suggested that the deck and ps4 is around the same graphics wise. I had assumed that the fact that games are specifically optimized for consoles, that it would be a better experience at the same power. Boy was I wrong with Skyrim.

I’m playing at 720p, high preset, 10w, and 40 fps.

Everything is just…smoother. I don’t know what the frame rate is on the PS4, but I presume it’s 30. Now I don’t know if the effect I’m seeing is from being only 10 FPS more, but everything just moves nicer. Textures are much better as well. I can actually see individual leaves on the trees now. Texture in all the foliage is significantly improved. And something else I don’t understand, but everything is brighter and easier to see. It’s not the screen brightness. It’s just all the assets are easier to see. Buy a significant margin.

Oh, and you know those loading screens that you would have on console when you would load a save point or enter a new location? Those are gone now. You just go from one place to the other without any wait.

It’s like I’m playing a remastered version of the game.

I just wish I had this much of an improvement with Subnautica
