Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice. My 8-year-old son absolutely loves playing SimCity BuildIt and has been asking to try Cities: Skylines. He’s really into creating cities, managing resources, and watching them grow.
I know Cities: Skylines is a deeper and more detailed simulation compared to BuildIt, and I want to make sure it’s not too overwhelming or complex for him to enjoy. Would you say the first Cities: Skylines is beginner-friendly enough for a kid his age? Or is it more geared toward older players?
Also, I’ve read that Cities: Skylines 2 is out, but it seems like it might be more advanced and less polished at the moment (based on some reviews I’ve seen). Should I start him off with the original game instead?
Lastly, are there any mods or settings you’d recommend to make it easier or more fun for a young city-builder? And do I need to keep an eye on anything in the game or mods to make sure it stays age-appropriate?
Thanks in advance for your advice and tips! I’m hoping to find a new way to support his love of cities and creativity.
