Okay, so this is a bit of a specific example, but just work with me here. I saw a video the other day that said the “She’s a man” joke that’s used in a lot of media is transphobic. And, to a certain extent, I agree. But it’s a case to case thing. One of the examples they provided was the ending of Ace Ventura when he reveals that Einhorn (who is actually Ray Finkle) is a man to the policeforce, which results in them all cleaning out their mouths frantically because the joke is that they all had intercourse with him. Now, the movie doesn’t really imply that he’s trans at all, and ever since I was a kid I always thought it was more of an insane disguise because Ray Finkle in the movie is shown to be a crazy lunatic. I brought up what the actual joke was in the comments and got called a bigot without one person even considering my side of the arguement. Am I in the wrong? I am open to a friendly discussion why I’m wrong, I just don’t want to be yelled at by people who won’t even try to view it from a different perspective.
