I’ve built many small environments but I want to expand my skills from system administration into system architecture and I’m trying to come up with a gameplan.

Whar do I need hardwarewise?

I currently have a dual CPU R730 with only 48GB of RAM + a SFF running opnsense(a stick died). I guess I will need at least another server to be able to create a cluster for HA and a lot more ram in the original server.

What do I do for storage to imitate a setup an enterprise or at lest medium sized company would have?

Networking. I need at least 10 GBit for storage I assume?

For the software I was thinking setting up at least 2 DCs and creating a hybrid setup with AAD/Entra. I was also thinking of creating some Windows 11 VMs for connecting to intune. Keep using opnsense as a DHCP server or go with Windows Server DHCP

Not sure what else I would need to simulate?

If anyone has some resources / guides / overviews it would be greatly appreciated.
