I honestly didn’t get it. Even in the shower scene where Freddy takes off the coach’s clothes and lashes his back and then stabs him in a way which looks like he’s sodomizing him. As a kid, all of that flew under my face. I was too busy getting scared by the bus scene or finding Kim Myers so fabulous as Lisa Webber. She also looked like Meryl Streep, who was my favorite actress back then. I wasn’t that big of a fan of Mark Patton, his high-pitched screaming got on my nerves.

Considering I grew up gay, I should have seen it but I only realized it as I got older and understood the references. And it made me give the movie more value. The scene where Jesse and Ron shared a bed, the double meaning of closet, how Freddy pretty much represented the gay inside Jesse and how Lisa represented heterosexuality, destroying the gay in Jesse, but you can’t really destroy who you are, so that’s why the end makes sense.

I even like Mark Patton’s performance more when I know what Jesse is all about and Patton went through some hardships because the writer refused to admit the gay subtext was on purpose so Patton got blamed for it because he was gay in real life.
