Front Door Tablet

This tablet is the main hub, and is located right next to the front door for quick actions on home entry/exit. It is the only wall tablet which allows user input. We can control the whole smart home from here if needed.

All of my dashboards are either using elements from or heavily inspired by Rounded by LE0N. I can’t remember if I used any other themes, but if I did, please let me know in the comments below and I will update the post.

I blocked out some personal information and I’m sorry if it ruins the aesthetics. 😔

HOME – Page 1/5

This is the main screen. The tablet wakes up when its camera detects motion, and this screen is presented. Overview of the information and actions available on this screen:

  • Entire home temperatures and historical data
  • Controls for lights, shades, TV, A/C, gaming PCs & 3D printer
  • Feed dog and anti-bark (white noise) automations
  • Find our phones if they’re lost
  • Which windows are open + weather at-a-glance
  • Calendar events

Everything is an actionable button except the calendar widget.

WALDO - Page 2/5

This page controls our robot vacuum, the Roborock S7 MaxV. We have affectionately named it Waldo because sometimes it gets lost and we can’t find it. 🙃

We can send the vacuum to certain rooms using the buttons in the middle column, and the right column shows us how much time remaining on the vacuum’s components before we need to maintain/replace them.

It’s nice to be able to wipe off the kitchen counters after cooking, then walk a couple steps over to the tablet and send Waldo in to clean up our mess.

Skipping Page 3. It is just a webpage card which displays the UI for a docker container that we use to manage our eBook libraries. Added it to the wall tablet so my partner didn’t need to ask me for help with it anymore. 🙂

3D PRINTER - Page 4/5

This page is a quick way to see what my 3D printer is doing. It also allows me to control some aspects of the printer such as pausing the current job, changing print speed and toggling power.

This is a newer page which is still clearly a work-in-progress. I recently purchased a couple of PLT-1 smart sensors from Apollo which I am using to monitor the soil moisture level, air humidity, light level and soil temperature of a couple houseplants. I may add some more sensors depending on the outcome of my testing.

Kitchen Tablet

With the recent release of the WinterBreak jailbreak for all Kindle devices, I decided to add an unused Kindle to my HA setup. It is velcroed to the side of the fridge.

It uses the Google Calendar integration to track expiration dates and the Google Tasks integration to track meal/snack options that we might forget about. The tablet updates every hour during the day and sleeps at night.

Closet Tablet

By far my jankiest tablet is in the closet. We wanted access to the weather in the closet while we are picking clothes for the day, so I bought an Inkplate 10 to use with HA. There are no outlets in the closet, so it had to be a battery-powered device. It’s a pretty simple dashboard which displays the current weather/temp + any relevant forecasts.

The 3D print job for this case did not finish correctly, so please excuse the duct tape job. I’ve been meaning to re-print it for months now. I’m sure I’ll get around to it sometime…

That’s all for now. Let me know if you have any questions about the setup and I’m happy to answer in the comments.
