Hello everyone !
I finally made the decision to buy an AVP and it’s arriving next week, I’m so excited ! In the meantime I would like to enjoy as soon as I can the things I want to try.
However I am a bit lost regarding the best players there are, between Plex, Infuse, MoonPlayer, Skybox…
I have a certain list of priorities and I’m almost sure I will need at least 2 apps to cover all of my needs, I would deeply appreciate if anyone can give me their opinion and i would really value it.
- Connectivity : The most important thing for me is the ability to play from a Plex server. I have a NAS setup on a remote location (my parent’s house), and I already use Infuse on my Apple TV. I would really enjoy not having to setup anything else.
- Screen : Having a nice big screen and a nice environment is my top 2. I would like to be able to make the screen big, like in a theater and if possible without any black bars.
- Audio : Being able to send the audio to an other receiver, like my Apple TV, to be able to play using my speakers. I would be playing to a 2ch receiver so I don’t need multichannel audio for when sending to my speakers, but I would love to be able to enjoy multichannel when using AirPods Pro for example.
- 3D and VR180/VR360 support : First on the list would be 3D to enjoy movies in 3D. The rest for NFSW content, for this I will use local server like my MacBook Pro tho (don’t really want to share those kind of videos on my plex library 😁)
In the ideal world, I would love being able to use a single app that would fit all my needs. But in the meantime I would not mind having to use another app for VR videos for example. The audio part is important to me, I have nice speakers and being able to enjoy the clarity and bass that speakers offer while having a great screen would be insane !
I will of course answer my post in a few weeks once I feel I’ve found the best solution for me and I thank you in advance for any answers you guys will give me. I’m thrilled to be a part of this community !!
