this show absolutely blew my mind. easily without a question one of the best shows i have ever seen in my entire life. yes i know im glazing but for good reason and here’s why also HUGE SPOILERS!!!:
first off mike flanagan is an amazing director/producer and im a fan of lots of his work but this blew anything i’ve seen from him out of the water and further. all the actors did an incredible job and absolutely nailed their performances every second of the show, really doing just an incredible job at showing raw emotion and making you forget you’re even watching tv rather than being there in person. also the cinematography was 🤌 there were many many, long scenes that were all shot in one take, and if i even recall correctly the whole hour long episode of them in the funeral home was shot in one scene which is just absolutely astonishing and just adds so much more depth to making you feel immersed in the story.
not only is there plenty of tense and horrifying moments that actually end up working a lot of the time rather than not like lots of movies and shows nowadays, and while yes there are jump scares there’s also many times where many different forms of disturbing scenes are displayed and they are all executed perfectly. aside from the horror, there is such a deep plot and storyline and it is so perfectly and articulately crafted from beginning to end, and you can tell flanagan had a vision for the whole thing. i constantly found myself w my jaw to the floor throughout the whole 10 episodes just because the way information is kept from you and slowly revealed and drip fed just for it to all piece together is seriously some of the best directing ive ever seen.
i could go on and on about specific scenes but i don’t want to make it super long but obviously it goes without saying 10/10 lol 🤌
