To those outside the UK, or those in it but may not have seen this blowing up online, there has been a joint investigation between The Times and Channel 4 into Russell Brand. The investigation goes back years and is mainly about his actions after he got sober. Attached is a link to the Times article without the paywall. Also look at the 90 minute Dispatches special.

Trigger warnings for rape, emotional abuse, coercion, underage relationships, grooming, workplace harassment, coverups and victims not being believed.

This is very well investigated and goes back to accusations with evidence before Brand started going “truther” for those who will say this is the establishment trying to take him out. The clips of his radio show, interviews, standup are revealing. Especially his interview with Jimmy Savile.

Thank you to all those who bravely told their stories. From rape survivors to co-workers and employees and people in the entertainment industry. And to those victims and women comics who didn’t participate in the investigation because they were scared, I completely understand why. You have nothing to feel ashamed about.

And as an domestic abuse survivor (including sexual assault in the relationship) who was not believed by some close friends and people in my community, or minimized and dismissed, I applaud men like Daniel Sloss for speaking out. The only male comedian who went on record. And openly talks about the responsibility of male bystanders in rape culture in his standup specials.

The way this has been known about for Brand for decades is disgusting. BBC are once again in this. As are Channel 4 and Brand’s co-hosts and team.

Sending love to all affected ❤️
