That one’s easy. Colour is a quality that we discern in light with wavelengths around the 600 - 800 nm range. That wavelength is enormously larger than atomic scale. Visible light, practically speaking, cannot even reflect off an atom - you need to get way way down past the X-ray wavelength to get even some reflection.
