Evening all –

Excited to be able to post here celebrating a much-needed win. Passed the AZ-204 today with a 730/1000. Honestly, not even mad about it being a “low score” because a pass is a pass. The exam had way more fill in the blank style coding questions than I was anticipating, and I definitely had fears of bombing the exam.

I will say the MS learn availability during the exam definitely came in clutch, I’d highly suggest ‘learning’ how to utilize the search bar outside of the exam as it does not generate your typical curated results that you would expect to see utilizing other search engines. Also, Time management is key when utilizing this tool as it is extremely easy to go down a rabbit hole on this. Skimming and key word searching is your friend here.

I spent the last two weeks studying for this – I followed along with the entire Pluralsight AZ-204 path and took around 65 pages of well written notes on all of the subjects covered. Additionally, I utilized the Microsoft Learn track & the Microsoft learn practice assessment. I find that the trick with the practice assessments provided by MS is to take the test once a day after reviewing any additional content/existing notes. Doing this method allowed me to not necessarily memorize the practice exam questions while also providing me the opportunity to give myself a checkpoint on weak areas on the daily.

I did find it very frustrating trying to find additional study materials for this exam, there aren’t any up-to-date YouTube playlists (none that aren’t a year + old) that can be gone through like many of the other more popular exams. Also, the content that does exist on YouTube covers a lot more information about AKS and containers than is required for today’s version of the exam (at least the questions that were on my exam anyways). After being unable to find additional content, I booked the exam last night and took it this morning.

All-in-all I am happy this one is done; I have been an Azure Engineer for the better part of a decade with tons of exposure to all of the core subjects and topics covered on this exam and it still took me the entire time provided to do the test. I think I had 6 minutes to spare – cut it super close.

This will be my third pass in the last 4 months (AZ-900, AZ-104, and now AZ-204). Going to be YOLO’ing the AZ-305 in the next two weeks and then taking a very long break until renewals come around.
