Are you one of the fortunate souls blessed with Discovery+ or Max? Then this is the thread to discuss what happened in the latest Battlebots episode, ahead of the main Discovery broadcast on Thursday night. Discovery+ usually has the episode already available around 1am PST every Thursday, which is why we have this special thread.
Please bear in mind you are not to disclose any information on this episode (this includes whether a fight was awesome, ended in a JD, memes - anything) ahead of the main broadcast anywhere else except for here. It’s a service to your fellow fans. Simply put, as the great Saint Greg Gibson proclaimed: ‘Don’t be a dick’.
Some important things to remember:
- The results of this episode are only to be discussed in this thread prior to the main broadcast Thursday night. Many on the subreddit are not on Discovery+ and have to wait until Thursday night, the day after or even later, so we implore people to make use of their common sense and when they have an early showing, stick to this Discovery+ thread until the main broadcast has passed.
- After the main Discovery broadcast Thursday evening, our Spoiler policy goes into effect where anything related to the most recent episode is to be properly Spoiler-tagged (like this thread) with a non-revealing title, until the end of the weekend (Monday 12am PT).
Thanks for your consideration, and enjoy!
EDIT: It appears that the episode has not gone live at the typical time. This thread will stay up for if the episode does get released early, but it is also possible that the early release was fixed somewhere in the transition to Max.
EDIT 2: …Maybe tone down the pitchforks? This was never once promised or advertised as a feature of Discovery+, or acknowledged by Battlebots. We the fans just happened to notice that the episodes would go live early, and set up these early discussions as containment for the spoilers which would otherwise go everywhere and muddy the viewing experience for those watching in a variety of manners. Frankly, it always felt like a corporate oversight we were lucky to have which was probably ultimately hurting their ratings by disincentivizing people from watching the broadcast and was highly atypical among cable streaming services – like, imagine what a shitshow it would be if some huge Game of Thrones tier TV finale went live 16 hours early on one service. It was fun while it lasted, but it seems they’ve adjusted.
Anyways, as it’s clear this isn’t happening, taking down the sticky.
