Went a little crazy building my unraid server a year or so ago. I put a 5900X in it thinking this would allow me multiple vms and other tasks with no need to worry about how to divide up resources.

I guess I didnt consider how much power this draws at idle compared to other CPUs. I watched wolfgang’s video on youtube about building a low power server, and although he had some good suggestions, the video is a few years out of date.

Whats out there that is high-performance, but low idle draw?

Ideally I dont want to take a huge performance hit, or lose more than a few cores vs the 5900X (12 cores / 24 threads).

Whats the best options out there? Budget is around the same price as a 5900X.
