Long time lurker, first time I’ve ever been able to post. Sorry for formatting, I’m on mobile, also this happened earlier today.

I’ve just started working on nuclear site as an electrician. There is a lot of red tape, places I can’t go unsupervised or permits I have to pick up before I can do certain work etc.

I’ve been working with a colleague doing emergency light testing in one of the newer buildings all week. We have 4 buildings to look after and various places we can’t go unescorted in each, so we have been doing the best we can, doing a little of one building then moving on to the next, slowly completing all of them. Our supervisor didn’t like this as work sheets weren’t being ‘signed off.’

He snaps at us this morning, accusing us of not doing the work and being too slow, not listening to our reasons. He gives us back the paperwork for only 1 building and says “don’t come back until this particular building is done.” You might see where this is going…

We went in and knew we needed to be escorted in order to finish this worksheet. The only time someone was free to escort us was at 11:00am, 4 hours from when we started work. We said “ok!” And waited patiently for 4 hours for this person to let us into 3 very small rooms…
