I can’t find a sub that addresses the point of this post. Part offgrid and part antiwork.

Work is killing me. I’m depressed, anxious, tired, and hopeless. It takes up most of my day so I can’t exercise or do other things I want to do to be happy and healthy.

It is one of the reasons I started down the off grid path. Bought land, built a tiny house, worked on my skills, etc. That side of things is taken care of (almost - well on the way). I wanted a space that was off the grid, knowing I’d done it myself, and it leading to an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.

But I’m refocussing on the initial reason for wanting to be off grid. To be “off grid”. I guess I’m differentiating these two parts of the term by saying half is the physical lifestyle (no connection to services on the grid) and the other half being the economic grid.

I hate work. It is an absolute encumbrance on my life. Yes, I’ve tried different jobs; yes, I’ve tried following my interests; yes, I’ve tried to find meaning in work. Whatever I do I am miserable doing it. I want to leave it all behind. I want to not be micromanaged by some other person who doesn’t care about my wellbeing. I want to not input my time to earn money to input that back into bullshit I don’t need.

I’m wondering how others have achieved this? Everything is a compromise, so how off the economic grid did you aim then land?

Edit: I should have said what my plan actually is… So we have a tiny house on some acres and an apartment in the city. Looking to be debt free and minimal bills, and have some savings. Looking to finance a minimalist and low cost lifestyle living off savings and airbnb-ing the apartment and possibly the tiny house when we’re at the other location. Not interested in leveraging social media driven stuff, and don’t really want to sink all my time into a job I’ve invented for myself.
