I was able to switch over to using the Ratgdo openers last weekend. The openers are working much better now. I can highly recommend them with Home Assistant. It was much easier than I expected.

On a different note, I would recommend to anyone who has switched over to using the Ratgdo devices (or similar) to block the MyQ devices from the Internet. It is pretty clear that war has been declared by Chamberlain. I would expect the next shot to start to screw with any other “unauthorized” devices attached to the garage door openers through a firmware update. How could they do that? I’m not exactly sure, but I am certain some firmware engineer inside Chamberlain has been tasked to do just that, right now.

With Home Assistant and the Ratgdo devices, there’s no need for the openers to talk to the Internet anymore. Probably not even the local LAN anymore.

You can use the MyQ app to confirm what ever method you’ve successfully blocked them. If you wait until it is too late, you’ll really be unhappy.
