I currently have 23 devices in ZHA. Some are mains powered, some are plugins, and some are battery powered. The majority of the devices are Aqara, but I have a few Sonof, Innr, and other brands in the mix as well. My coordinator is a Sonof Zigbee USB 3.0 Dongle Plus, which until fairly recently has been great, but right now, about 75% of my devices are unavailable. They were working last night when I went to bed, but when I woke up I noticed some of my automations weren’t working. Even some of the devices that are available aren’t working as expected. I have an Aqara wireless switch setup to trigger an automation to turn on some of the lights in my office. The switch is reporting the battery, but not registering clicks.

I’ve been using ZHA since I originally built this HA box, and I’ve had devices drop here and there, but it seems like the more devices I add to the network the less reliable they all become. Should I switch to Z2M? Get a new coordinator? Right now I feel like saying “screw it” and abandoning ship on Zigbee altogether, but I don’t think there are many other options for temperature, presence, etc sensors.

What do I need to do here to make this stuff more reliable?

Update: I switched everything over to zigbee2mqtt, and rebuilt most of my automations. So far everything is staying connected, and I have additional functionality from the Aqara wired wall switch. With ZHA I wasn’t able to set it to decoupled mode, but z2m is able to, so that’s awesome.
