So I quit my job in February, nothing eventful just wanted to move on and so signed up for Job Seekers Benefit which the government provides for a little while. This benefit usually gives you some extra perks like free dental care, discounted gym subscription and free courses. I happily booked an appointment at the dentist and checked the “Benefits” tick box and got some lovely dental work done, a new crown and some cleaning. Then I received a letter in the post saying to provide proof that I’m on the benefits - that I did. I received a reply saying it was the wrong type of benefit I received and that I’d now have to pay a fine of £410 as a result. So here I am, without a job, whose dad died a month ago, paying almost half a grand for dental work. And it was all my own fault.

TLDR: accidentally committed fraud and got fined £410 for a new single dental crown.
