The Iron Dames have become the first all-female crew to win an FIA World Endurance Championship race, vindicating one team owner’s belief that men and women can compete equally in motorsport.
In the final race of the GTE era, it was Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting, and Rahel Frey who claimed pole position in the 8 Hours of Bahrain before going on to win the endurance epic at the Sakhir circuit.
The GTE class is one of three in the FIA World Endurance Championship alongside the fastest Hypercar division and second-tier LMP2 prototypes.
