Last year, I got really unwell and spent about a year in bed. I’m still pretty unwell as it is, but the low FODMAP diet (although I’ve found I’m OK with dairy and gluten, hallelujah) has made it so I can do some sort of work, although it’s minimal and mostly from home, as standing up or moving around too much makes me worse.

This has left me with a bit of a budget problem. After rent and general living expenses, I have about $100 for food. This has left me living on Gatorade, boxed mac and cheese and mini pizzas, which is likely not helping my health, and it’s getting really tiresome really quickly.

I don’t have much cooking ability, nor the ability to stand there and do much for long periods. I have an air fryer and a microwave. My partner does help out, but they work a lot and I can’t expect them to be here for meals that work for me all of the time.

I’m hoping the good people here in r/NZ have some suggestions for me. Ideally something nutritious, and around $7ish a meal. Avoiding garlic and onion is the hardest thing as everything seems to have it, from sauces to snacks.

I’ve taken a look at many suggestions online, but they’re all very US-centric, which doesn’t help me here in our low-range supermarket duopoly!
