Im trying to apply for a new passport and have been following the instructions from the passport office and AusPost website. It literally says “book appointment” in the how to apply section.

So that’s what I did. I booked an appointment for 4PM at my LPO and went there 15 mins earlier. Asked the lady at the counter if I need to wait in line or will I be called at the time. She said “there’s no booking”. I showed her my phone with the AusPost appointment confirmation message. She didn’t even bother to look up and just said their post office doesn’t care about online bookings and everyone has to just walk-in and wait in line. So I went and stood in the line. She then looked at me after couple of mins, and said that they don’t take in any passport applications after 4 (even walk-ins). I tried explaining her how I just did what AusPost website and SMS confirmation pointed me to, she was least bothered. Had to walk away after she started ignoring me completely. What a nice way to spend the evening :(
