I’m currently looking to buy a 6-bay NAS, I did a quick research and and found that 6-bay NAS units with a 10-core CPU and 2.5Gbe usually run more than $1,000. If I build a NAS with similar setup, I’m wondering if that would end up costing me over $800.

I also found a new NAS brand called Zimacube which claims to offer a 2GB/s data transfer speed and 164TB capacity for less than $800, which pretty much matches my requirements. The only hitch is that there’s not much info out there about Zimacube NAS.

I’ve stumbled upon mentions of Zimablade and Zimaboard online, but not uncertain about their reliability. Can anyone provide insights, or are there any cheap alternatives?
