I’ve been rewatching Titus, comedian Christopher Titus’ sitcom, after I discovered that it’s available for free on Titus’ YouTube channel. He uploaded it, along with several of his comedy specials, during the pandemic.
I’ve been having a blast, it’s as good as I remember. For those who’re not familiar with it, I see it as the anti-seinfeld. Instead of people who looks like they should be normal but are assholes, here it’s people who are supposed to be fucked up, but end up being pretty all right.
I definitely recommend it, though sensibilities may be heavily Gen X and Elder Millennial.
It deals with some pretty heavy subjects at times, but always stays funny. I’ve read it had good ratings but Fox was always uncomfortable with it, because of the heavy subjects, and then Titus went and mouthed off to a top executive and got his show cancelled at the end of season 3. And got his TV career pretty much destroyed.
Two things I notice now. Christopher Titus and Joel McHale definitely need to show up together in a movie as brothers or something. They even have the same facial expressions. And Titus would’ve made an awesome Joker. Hell, he still could!
If you go and watch it on YouTube, with the playlist from Titus’ channel, be aware that the episode order is weird, but that seems to have been the case since airing. Like, consequences of an event will skip an episode and stuff like that.
