For me, the first person who comes to mind is Natasha Lyonne. The most recent projects I’ve watched her in have been Poker Face, Russian Doll and Orange is the New Black, and I honestly felt like her performances in each were functionally identical…
But the thing is, she’s extremely good at playing that one character, to the point that she’s a scene stealer even when paired with castmates who I’d consider overall “better” actors than her in a technical sense. She’s effortlessly charismatic, super watchable and easy to root for, has outstanding comedic timing and line readings, etc. I don’t feel like anyone else could play any of her characters better than she does.
Any other examples?
