The open-source community has always been at the forefront of innovation, but it feels like we are lagging when it comes to AI.
AI is a generational shift for dev and tech and there’s a serious risk of the big guys are running away with the space and monopolizing it.
I maintain CopilotKit, an open-source AI library, and while we’re good interest, 95% of it is coming from enterprise and people already in AI, and not the typical open-source community.
What happens in these early days will be pivotal to what the space looks like in years to come. Don’t sleep on AI-infra!
Some great OS AI libraries you can support & contribute to:
-
CopilotKit (My library): Infra for embedding an AI Copilot into any app (react).
-
Pezzo.ai: Prompt management & observability.
-
SwirlSearch: LLM-powered search & synthesis.
-
LangChain: build apps with LLMs. String together LLM chains + other programs.
