I need admin approval for any installation on my work computer (understandable) and portable software is a way around having to go bother somebody every time I need a new program. A lot of the download pages for open source software have options for portable downloads already, but a lot don’t. PortableApps has come in clutch with portable versions of a lot of the ones that don’t. Looks sketchy as hell with all of the ads, but I have had nothing but good results from this site. (As long as they don’t put in the ad with the fake download button, dealbreaker)
